In an interview featured in the April issue of “TEEMA TIMES", Dr. Chris Kuo, the CSO of Biomedica, who also serves on the Smart Healthcare Technology Committee of Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturer’s Association, highlighted Biomedica's pioneering thinking in advancing smart healthcare technologies, especially in precision medicine and big data analysis.

Dr. Kuo pointed out that past misconceptions about smart healthcare that AI might replace doctors, created obstacles in the industry's advancement. However, today, doctors who do not embrace AI technology will gradually be overtaken by those who effectively utilize such technologies. Biomedica, through its advanced imaging AI technology and genetic testing solutions, is bringing revolutionary progress to osteoporosis and women's health screening. The company has successfully developed an AI-assisted screening technology that can provide a report for osteoporosis in just 6 seconds and is committed to extending this technology to remote areas.

Furthermore, Dr. Kuo emphasized that the application of big data analysis in precision medicine would focus on disease prediction, treatment improvement, and drug development. He noted that with the National Health Insurance Administration beginning to subsidize genetic sequencing in May 2024, genetic testing will play a pivotal role in cancer treatment.

Dr. Kuo also mentioned the importance of policy encouragement and financial subsidies for the development of the smart healthcare field. He called on the government to adopt more proactive strategies to support the industry, including promoting standardization, encouraging inter-industry cooperation, and helping Taiwanese businesses expand into international markets. Dr. Kuo believes that by combining Taiwan's strengths in the ICT industry, the smart healthcare sector has the potential to become the next growth engine for the economy.

Biomedica, through its innovation and leadership in the smart healthcare field, demonstrates the company's position at the forefront of technology and its commitment to enhancing the quality and accessibility of medical services.
